Wow! Get ready for an update we’ll be talking about for a while. 💙

Rotary Charities of Traverse City has awarded the GLA a seed grant of $15,000 to support our Organizational Adaptation and Community Visioning Initiative! The GLA cares for and protects the Glen Lake/Crystal River Watershed year-round, and our new Initiative will help us plan for coming years, setting our course to grow and increase our impact. On behalf of our board and team, thank you, Rotary Charities!

Happy Watershed Wellness Wednesday! At the GLA, volunteers help power our outreach and science activities above and beyond what we could achieve on our own. If you think it’s too late in the season to get involved, keep reading!

Our Community-Based Monitoring Program runs through October and is a critical piece of how we protect water quality from invasive aquatic species, especially Eurasian watermilfoil (EWM).

The time commitment is minimal, but the impact is great!

What happens when you become a GLA Legend? More than you might think.

Our Legends include the GLA in their long-term giving plans; wills, insurance policies, trust arrangements, and retirement plans can all support our mission to protect the watershed.

But legendary gifts can go above and beyond monetary support. If you decide to become a Legend, we’d love to share your family’s story about the watershed and why you chose to make the greatest impact you could. These stories allow us to share our work, as well as examples of the community and caring that help fuel our mission.

It’s going by too quickly! ☀️ We’re soaking up the last days of summer here in the Glen Lake/Crystal River Watershed. Before fall arrives, we’re asking you:

💧 What memories did you create this year?
💧 What memories do you and your family treasure from seasons prior?

The GLA is looking for photos of these watershed memories, new and old, to share community stories and promote the importance of protecting and strengthening the watershed. If you have photos and memories to share, send them to [email protected] with the name of anyone we should credit for the photo.
