Uniform Allowance to Nearly Double July 13
OPM has finalized a long overdue increase in allowance for federal employees who must wear uniforms in their official duties from $800 to $1,500, following a comment period on interim final rules it issued in April.
A notice in the June 26 Federal Register says that commentors “overwhelmingly” supported the increase, “explaining that costs of uniform items such as specialized firefighting and public safety uniforms, jackets, pants, shirts and boots have risen substantially since the last adjustment in 2007 and now often exceed the $800 maximum allowance.” Link in comments ...
