Treacherous conditions in our neighborhoods and side streets. While crews are working extremely hard to clear, it is nearly impossible to “plow” 4 inches of ice.

We’ve had many apparatus stuck in the county today. Please be patient with police and fire as we have to navigate with extreme caution. If we can’t get to you safely, we are of no help to anyone.

Temperatures through the week are not looking favorable. Please be safe and careful when you drive…..if you don’t have to go out, don’t. Check on your neighbors and help one another.

Remember, 911 is for emergencies only.

Numerous wrecks today in the Richmond Metro area. Please drive slower, turn on your headlights, and wear your seatbelts.

If you are traveling on the interstate and there are emergency operations (amber, red, blue lights) happening, do your best to move to the next lane. If you cannot move over, at least slow down.

Thank you.
Please drive safe.

Putting technology to use…. We were sent to an intersection where someone was complaining of a chemical smell. The first arriving unit smelled mercaptan (the odorant in natural gas). They were unable to get any readings on their atmospheric monitor because there wasn’t enough natural gas present in the atmosphere. We used our CGI and ExplorIR to locate the small underground leak and reported the leak to the gas company.

Rocky loved his family, faith, and the fire service. He was all in all the time. When he was away from this place, he volunteered leading the Boy Scouts, and he worked part time with the Dept of Forestry. Rocky’s life is a shining example of public service. Rest in peace Chief. You will be missed.
