Shout out to one of our own! Congratulations Dave! Strong work!

Congratulations to Local 1241 Firefighter Paramedic David Holmes on being named a recipient of Saint Francis Hospital’s 2026 EMS Champion Award.

This prestigious recognition was awarded in honor of his continued commitment to providing exceptional patient care each and every day, as well as his outstanding performance during a recent cardiac arrest call.

During the incident, Firefighter Paramedic Holmes led the successful resuscitation of a patient suffering cardiac arrest. The patient received advanced cardiac life support measures including high-quality CPR, advanced airway management, and comprehensive ALS care. After achieving return of spontaneous circulation, FFP Holmes acquired and interpreted a 12-lead EKG, identified an ST-segment myocardial infarction (STEMI), and activated the cardiac catheterization lab at Saint Francis Hospital directly from the field to expedite definitive care.

Due to the coordinated efforts of everyone involved and the high level of pre-hospital care provided, the patient was ultimately discharged from the hospital neurologically intact and able to return home to continue their life in our community.

Local 1241 is proud to recognize Firefighter Paramedic Holmes for his professionalism, clinical excellence, and dedication to serving the residents and guests of West Hartford.

Celebrating our dispatchers this week and always! The often overlooked group that sets the tone for many of our calls! The calm and reassuring voice at the end of the line, the resources that are lined up, the instruction over the phone to help the patient, whatever the task they are there to help! We are lucky to have some pretty amazing Glastonbury dispatchers! Thank you for your dedication!

Yesterday, Glastonbury EMS had the pleasure of visiting Girl Scout troop 10824 to give them a firsthand look at one of our ambulances! 🚑
The girls got to explore the inside of the ambulance, learn about the equipment we use, and see how our team helps people in emergencies. They asked great questions and showed so much curiosity and enthusiasm—it was truly inspiring!
We love opportunities like this to connect with our community and help young people learn about safety, teamwork, and the important role of emergency services. Who knows—maybe we met some future EMTs and paramedics today!
Thank you to Girl Scout troop 10824 for having us—we had a great time! 💚
