Three donations in today:
ANXIOUS PEOPLE by Fredrik Backman. Humorous, compassionate, and wise, Anxious People is an ingeniously constructed story about the enduring power of friendship, forgiveness, and hope—the things that save us, even in the most anxious of times. (Goodreads synopsis).

GREAT BIG BEAUTIFUL LIFE by Emily Henry. Two writers compete for the chance to tell the larger-than-life story of a woman with more than a couple of plot twists up her sleeve in this dazzling and sweeping new novel from Emily Henry. (Goodreads).

BUCKEYE by Patrick Ryan. What begins as a fleeting transgression becomes a complex secret that irrevocably binds the main characters in unexpected ways. As their small Ohio town remakes itself in the postwar boom, the Salt and Jenkins families remain in each other’s orbit, and the consequences of choices made long ago begin to emerge, reshaping their lives in ways that will forever impact the next generation.

Sweeping yet intimate, resplendent with moments of deep emotion and unforgettable characters, Buckeye is a transportive story of love, loyalty, sacrifice, and forgiveness. (Goodreads).

Cornerstone update: Saturday was a very rainy day. The crew did not commence digging until after lunch. The search thus far has not been successful in finding the cornerstone or the time capsule. Further equipment is needed. The crew plans to return sometime this month to continue searching. Their efforts are greatly appreciated!

PUBLIC INVITATION!!

Observe an Archaeological Dig at Lewis Library.

A team from the University of Missouri will begin searching for the building's Cornerstone and Time Capsule., Saturday, May 30 at 9 a.m.

The archeology dig will begin at the NE corner of the library. If you have ever wanted to observe an archeological dig, this is a great opportunity to do so.

Margaret Jamborsky is currently working on a book about Benjamin Lewis. Her research has provided new information about Lewis and, the discovery of a newspaper article dated September 28, 1866, that announces the laying of the cornerstone at Lewis Library. The article lists the items that were placed inside the time capsule. It is hoped the time capsule can be located and the contents safely delivered. The dig team plans to be at the library all day and will return Sunday if neccesary.

It's going to be an interesting day! Come join us and be part of the excitement.

Friday, May 15 St. Mary's First Graders visited Lewis Library. This was the last time these students will be FIRST GRADERS! Hopefully they will visit as SECOND GRADERS. Students listened to several books being read and were given a copy of the book "Olive" as well as a few cookies to take "on the road"! Thank you to Mrs. Donna Owens for faithfully bringing her students to the library throughout the year. Mrs. Owens is retiring after 4 decades of teaching, and her visit yesterday was especially poignant.

Help support our historic library.

📚💚 We’re so close — and we need your help to cross the finish line.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of our community, the Lewis Library of Glasgow Capital Campaign has officially reached 75% of our $100,000 goal! That means we only have 25% left to raise to help preserve and improve this historic treasure for future generations.

This campaign will help us:
• Restore and preserve the library’s historic features
• Improve accessibility for all visitors
• Invest in technology and resources for our community

As you watch this video of the beautiful upstairs of our library, we hope you’ll consider being part of its future.

No donation is too small. Every dollar moves us closer to the goal and helps ensure Lewis Library continues serving Glasgow for generations to come.

If you’ve already donated — thank you. If you’ve been considering it, now is the perfect time to help us finish strong. 💚
