⚠️ SCAM ALERT ⚠️

The Glasgow Police Department wants to warn the public about an ankle monitor scam targeting families of individuals who have been arrested.

Scammers may pose as law enforcement or court officials and claim that a loved one can be released from jail if you immediately pay a fee for a GPS ankle monitor. They may use real names, arrest information, and even spoof phone numbers to make the call appear legitimate.

Remember:

Law enforcement will never call demanding payment for someone’s release or ankle monitor.

Never send money through Zelle, Venmo, Cash App, Bitcoin, or gift cards based on an unsolicited call.

Caller ID can be spoofed.

Hang up and contact the jail, court, or law enforcement agency directly using a verified phone number.

Please share this warning, especially with anyone who may have a family member currently incarcerated. Do not send money or provide personal or financial information to these callers.

🔥 BURN BAN IN EFFECT — BARREN COUNTY 🔥
Friday, September 4, 2026

Barren County has issued a countywide BURN BAN effective immediately.

Due to the current dry conditions and increased fire danger, all residents are asked to take this burn ban seriously and help protect our communities, property, and first responders.

🚫 Please DO NOT conduct any outdoor burning while the burn ban is in effect.

This includes:
• Brush and debris burning
• Trash burning
• Open fires
• Any other outdoor burning that could result in an uncontrolled fire

***EXEMPTION***
Campfires that are contained in a fire pit within an established campground are EXEMPT from this Executive Order.

Even a small fire can quickly spread when vegetation is dry. A single spark can threaten homes, property, farmland, and wooded areas while placing our volunteer firefighters and emergency responders at unnecessary risk.

⚠️ Please use extreme caution outdoors. Properly dispose of smoking materials, avoid activities that may create sparks near dry vegetation, and never leave any potential fire source unattended.

The burn ban will remain in effect until further notice. We will provide updates when conditions improve and the ban is lifted.

Please help us spread the word by sharing this post with your family, friends, and neighbors.
