We had our annual class d worker and staff bbq today! Every inmate that works outside of the facility on road crews and hall/kitchen workers was treated to a bbq meal, an electronic e-cig, and bag of coffee. Just a small token of appreciation for the hard work that they do. This was done at no expense to the taxpayers or county.

A new program, Books Behind Bars, has been introduced at the Barren County Detention Center for eligible inmates and their children. Detention Center Deputy Tiffany Sturgeon partners with Family Enrichment to provide inmates with the chance to record themselves reading a book aloud for their child. The hard copy of the book and the video recording are delivered to the child's custodian free of charge, facilitating shared experience. This initiative enables inmates to preserve a positive connection with their child.
