🚨Additional Training Announcement🚨

Over the last several months, 4 of our newest members completed NYS BEFO/IFO (Exterior/Interior Fire Operations). This class is 129 hours in total and is the beginning stages of becoming an interior firefighter.

Members learned the basics of firefighting, from donning and doffing full firefighter PPE to advancing hose lines into burning buildings to searching for victims.

Additionally, this class was led by BEFO Lead Instructor Ray Mayone and IFO Lead instructor Max Mazzella who are the Chief and Asstistant Chief of our department.

We would like to take this time to thanks these members for taking the time out of their lives to complete this class and for all the effort day in and and day out.

As always, if you're looking to be a member or get more information how you could help your community, reach out to us or stop by any Monday night to the station between 7pm and 9pm.

🚨Training Annoucement🚨

Over the last few days 3 members along with multiple other agencies across NYS attended the NYS Swift/Flood Water Technician Level class offered at the Prepareness Center in Oriskany NY. The class totaling 32 hrs consisted of several swift water and flood water rescue scenerios.

This is a pivotal training opportunity for the members as we cover a large portion of the Hudson River, Esopus Creek and the growing number of flood related calls in the area.

Added are a few pictures of the members conducting the rescue scenerios. We would like to thank NYS Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services and all the instructors involved for providing this class to us.

As always, if you’re looking to be a member or get more information how you could help your community, reach out to us or stop by any Monday night to the station between 7pm and 9pm.

After years of advocacy by FASNY, the NYS Assembly has passed landmark legislation increasing the volunteer firefighter and EMS tax credit from $200 to $800, the first increase since the program was established nearly 20 years ago.

This legislation, S.6233-A (Sen. Martinez) / A.6790-A (MOA McMahon), also removes outdated restrictions that prevented volunteers from receiving both the state income tax credit and locally authorized property tax exemptions, delivering long-overdue support for volunteer emergency responders across New York state.

“This is a transformational moment for volunteer emergency services in New York State,” said FASNY First Vice President, Donald J. Farrell. “Quadrupling the volunteer firefighter and EMS tax credit from $200 to $800 sends a powerful message that New York recognizes the critical role volunteers play in protecting communities every day.”

As volunteer departments statewide continue to face recruitment and retention challenges, the legislation represents one of the most significant investments in volunteer emergency services in decades.

The Senate is expected to advance the measure in the coming days.
