“Man’s Best Friend”

Early this morning, Gladwyne and Belmont Hills Fire Company Firefighters were dispatched to the Expressway for a vehicle fire.

After the Engine left the station on the way to the call, we found Rowdy (our firehouse Dalmatian) waiting for his friends on the Engine to get back.

Fortunately, the call was not serious and Rowdy’s friends returned a short time later.

Rowdy is truly “our best friend”

Wishing everyone a safe and reflective Memorial Day!

Your Gladwyne Firefighters have been busy this morning with a response to Conshohocken to assist at a building fire and then attending the Ardmore and Gladwyne Memorial Day Parades.

Please make sure to take time to thank, remember and honor those Military members who are currently serving and also those who sacrificed their lives for our freedom!

Gladwyne Firefighters Assist Radnor Fire Company!

Just after midnight on Wednesday May 13, Gladwyne Firefighters were dispatched to assist the Radnor Fire Company with a large mansion fire. Engine 24 was dispatched to provide the RIT (Rapid Intervention Team) duties at the fire and upon arrival command changed their assignment to fire suppression on the 2nd floor. Command assigned Chief 24 (Leis) as the Division 2 supervisor and assigned multiple companies to the interior of the house for an aggressive fire attack.

Once the fire was extinguished crews assisted with salvage and overhaul and ensuring the fire was completely extinguished. Gladwyne Firefighters returned to Gladwyne just after 0400 hours where the crew cleaned up the equipment and apparatus to ready it for the next response.

Thank you to Tappan Firephotos for the excellent on scene photographs of our crews working.

Early Morning Truck Fire!

GFC Firefighters were woken up early once again this week, this time for a truck fire on the Expressway at City Ave.

Just after 0500 hours this morning, Station 22 and Station 24 were dispatched for a car fire on the Westbound Expressway in the area of City Ave.

Upon arrival of Deputy 22, it was located just before the Westbound City Ave on ramp to I76 Westbound. The vehicle fire was a tri-axle dump truck and the engine / cab area was well involved in fire.

Ladder 22 and Engine 24 each deployed a hand line and extinguished the fire. Engine 24-1 and Pipeline 28 were also on scene and supplied water to both Ladder 22 and Engine 24. The Westbound lanes of the expressway were closed for just under one hour while the fire was extinguished.

Thank you to all of our Firefighters who wake up and respond to these call to help complete strangers in their time of need. If you think you should be a part of this courageous and dedicated team of firefighters, please stop by the firehouse to discuss and we can show you around.
