SHARING: From Senior Life Solutions - MyMichigan Health
During Mental Health Awareness Month, we want to share a few practical tools that can be used in the moment when things feel heavy.
Try one of these quick resets:
- The 60-second breath: Inhale for 4, exhale for 6. Repeat 5 times.
- Name five things: Look around and name 5 things you see, 4 you feel, 3 you hear, 2 you smell, 1 you taste.
-โOne thing I can do todayโ: Pick one manageable step, like making a call, taking a short walk, or starting a load of laundry.
-Worry time (yes, really): Set a 10-minute timer to write worries down, then stop when the timer ends.
-Utilize the attached 30 days of self-care as another strategy/intervention.
If stress or anxiety is sticking around, affecting sleep, appetite, focus, or motivation, that is a sign that someone might benefit from our support. No one has to figure it out alone.
Senior Life Solutions offers help for older adults who are dealing with anxiety, depression, grief, or life changes. If you have someone who wants to talk with us about supportive options, please have them give us a call.
