โš ๏ธ PLANNED OUTAGE โ€” HIAWATHA AREA

Alger Delta members served by the Hiawatha Substation will experience a planned power outage on October 13, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time.

Crews hope to finish sooner, but please plan for the full outage window. If bad weather delays the work, October 14 and October 15 are the backup dates.

Why is this outage necessary?
Crews will perform preventive maintenance and equipment upgrades to help keep your electric service safe and reliable. The work includes:

๐Ÿ”ง Switching service over to the newly installed underground cable
๐Ÿ”ง Testing the substation transformers.
๐Ÿ”ง Replacing porcelain components with polymer components.
๐Ÿ”ง Installing new voltage regulators, which help maintain consistent voltage.
๐Ÿ”ง Upgrading the recloser control, which helps respond to faults on the electric system.
๐Ÿ”ง Cleaning and lubricating switches.

This scheduled work allows crews to inspect, maintain, and replace equipment before problems lead to unexpected outages.

โ“Did you know that smoke and CO detectors expire? Many have long-life batteries that donโ€™t need to be replaced every year, but they still need regular attention. Test and inspect alarms, and replace any that are broken or expired with a new 10-year sealed battery model.

District 3 members: Interested in serving on Alger Deltaโ€™s Board of Directors?

Weโ€™re seeking a qualified member from the Grand Marais district to fill a board vacancy through June 2027. Directors help set policy, guide planning, and oversee the cooperativeโ€™s finances.

In many cases, yes. During an extended outage, turn off breakers or unplug electronics and appliances. Leave one breaker on with a lamp or light so you know when power is restored. Before an emergency, label your breaker panel and know which circuits are essential.

The custodian position will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of the company's premises.

Washing company trucks, to be conducted during off hours, including evenings and weekends.
