On the eve of Thanksgiving, I am beyond grateful to announce the official certification of the results and my re-election to the Somerset Hills Board of Education! I am thankful for all of the support, hard work, and dedication that got me to this position. Please know my commitment is unwavering and I will work hard to continue to provide the best educational experience for all of our kids. May you enjoy the holiday with your family and friends!

Once again it has been brought to my attention that a “paid for” campaign ad has been put out to our community regarding my role on the board. As best as we can tell this is being paid for by local community members but coming from a national organization, fostering a political narrative, that provides paid actors and graphics. The people in these videos are not local community members and they have nothing to do with our school district or towns. If you are local and disagree with me or do not understand something I have said, I have always welcomed feedback, discussion and debate and will continue to do so. That is my job as a board member and how we make this district better.

It is even sadder that the people paying for this are weaponizing my belief and support of diversity, equity, and inclusion. DEI is embedded into every component of our society from academia to private corporations to public entities. DEI contributes to a more prosperous and harmonious society that benefits individuals and communities as a whole.

With regard to hiring within our district, we do not hire based on anything other than a candidates qualification for a particular position. However, if through that process we are also able to have a more diverse staff with greater representation of the students we serve that will only lead to a stronger, more effective educational environment.

Campaigning is tough, but also representative of who we will be when we are sitting at the board table! Thankful for my crew of supporters who remember what this is about and continue to take the high road! Final push so let’s get that positive energy out there and get this done for the kids!!!

Unfortunately, it has been brought to my attention that ”attack ads” and graphics with misinformation are being utilized in an attempt to win votes for SHSD BOE seats both in Peapack Gladstone and Bernardsville.

It is deeply disturbing to me to think that some community members believe that attacking their neighbors is an appropriate way to campaign for a non-partisan position that is about service to KIDS. I disavow these methods and will not participate in the degradation of the election process in our wonderful and supportive community.

I am available and perfectly willing to have open and honest conversations about policy 5756, the Comprehensive Health and Physical Education Standards, and my various leadership roles on the Board or any other topic you would like to discuss.

Please know I am focused on and committed to the kids that this role serves and not interested in the partisan politics or cultural wars that are dividing our communities across our country. Let’s work together to keep Peapack and Gladstone the welcoming, neighborly, and caring community it is known to be and make sure that the BOE position stays focused on ensuring the best possible education for our children.
