What A Drought Declaration Means

A drought declaration in Oregon serves as a formal recognition of significant water shortages. The 4 Parts of A Drought Declaration are,
1. County Request. The County formally asks the State for a declaration.
2. Scientific Review. The Water Supply Availability Committee analyzes data.
3. State coordination – The Drought Readiness Council reviews the situation, recommends action.
4. Governor’s order – The Governor issues an Executive Order.

Conservation Tip: Spread compost and organic matter in garden beds to help maintain moisture and keep weeds away.

Temperatures are expected to climb this weekend, bringing AMR River Rescue personnel on site at High Rocks Park this Sunday.

Earlier this year, the City of Gladstone, City of Oregon City, and Clackamas County partnered to continue seasonal river safety coverage at High Rocks Park during major holidays and select high-heat days.

The Clackamas River remains cold and fast-moving, even during warm weather. Wear a lifejacket, use caution near the water, and stay safe this summer.

The Max Patterson Spray Park is now open and ready to help everyone stay cool during the warm weather!
