๐ŸŒž EXTREME HEAT ALERT FOR THE PORTLAND METRO AREA ๐ŸŒž

Temperatures are expected to climb this weekend, creating dangerous conditions for many people, especially older adults, children, individuals with health conditions, and those without access to air conditioning.

๐Ÿ’ง Drink plenty of water
๐Ÿ  Stay in air-conditioned spaces when possible
โ˜€๏ธ Limit outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day
๐Ÿš— Never leave children, pets, or vulnerable adults in parked vehicles

โค๏ธ Check on neighbors, friends, family members, and community members who may need assistance

Heat-related illnesses can develop quickly. If you experience dizziness, nausea, confusion, rapid heartbeat, or excessive sweating, move to a cool place immediately and seek medical attention if symptoms worsen.

For additional heat safety tips and resources from the Oregon Health Authority, visit:

Stay safe, stay cool, and take care of one another this weekend. ๐Ÿ’™

Join the Oregon Department of Veteransโ€™ Affairs for Oregonโ€™s annual Statewide Memorial Day Ceremony at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 25, at the Oregon State Capitol State Park in Salem.

The ceremony honors Oregonโ€™s fallen service members from all eras and will include remarks from dignitaries, a color guard, wreath laying, the national anthem and the playing of โ€œTaps.โ€

The celebration will be hosted at the Oregon State Capitol State Park, located directly across the street from the front entrance of the Oregon State Capitol Building, 900 Court Street NE in Salem. This event is being temporarily relocated from its traditional annual location at the World War II Memorial due to adjacent construction taking place on the Capitol grounds.

The event is open to the public with accessible seating available. For those unable to attend in person, the ceremony will also be livestreamed on ODVAโ€™s page at www.facebook.com/odvavet

In addition to the Capitol ceremony, ODVA maintains a Statewide Memorial Day Events Calendar highlighting local observances and community celebrations honoring Oregonโ€™s fallen heroes.
