Cardinal Community: The School Health Advisory Council (SHAC) is currently accepting applications for new members for the 2026-2027 school year.

There is a Parent Member Application Form on our website (under News & Announcements) to be filled out and returned by July 31, 2026.

SHAC is an advisory body that serves to provide guidance, recommendations, and other assistance to the board of trustees in order to promote healthy lifestyles and academic achievement for our SISD students. SHAC conducts regularly scheduled meetings in September, November, February, and April of each year.

SPECIAL EDUCATION DESTRUCTION of RECORDS

Destruction of Special Education Records Notice – Gregg County SSA (comprised of Sabine ISD, Spring Hill ISD, and White Oak ISD) proposes to destroy Special Education Records of student who were removed from the program or who graduated from one of the SSA districts within the academic school years of 2018-2019, 2017-2018, 2016-2017, 2015-2016, 2014-2015, 2013-2014, 2012-2013. This purge of records for these particular academic years is in keeping with the Texas Education Agency Guidelines, which require school districts to keep Special Education Records for a period of seven years. Guardians or former special education students with records on file for the listed years should notify the Special Education office at Gregg County SSA at (903) 984-4416 by September 23, 2026, if they wish to obtain their records or for their records to be retained by the SSA. It is our responsibility to inform you that such records may be needed for Social Security benefits or other purposes and that it would be to your benefit to obtain them.

Cardinal Community: Last week, tragedy struck one of our Cardinal families. 💔

Being a small community, many of you have already heard and have been praying for the Rheay family, and we are so thankful for the love and support they have received. 🫶

Some of you know Christan Rheay from her time as a 5th grade teacher at our elementary campus. She and her husband, Chuck, have 3 beautiful children, their older two, Brendan and Reagan, both attend Sabine ISD. Their youngest baby, Owen, is currently in the NICU, born on May 8th, at just 31 weeks.

On Wednesday of last week, Chuck, their beloved husband and daddy, unexpectedly passed away from a heart attack while getting ready for work. 💔
