UPDATE - Our little Task Force is headed home today. Trucks are filthy and beat up a little and need some TLC. We were successful in the tasks we were given and everyone is coming home with no injuries. Special thanks to Quinton Parsons (Crawford County Emergency Manager) and Scotte Thomas (Crawford County District No.4 Chief) for traveling with the crew and helping to coordinate as task force commanders. After getting some rest overnight in Dodge City they have a bit of a drive but I’m sure home will be good. We appreciate everything they did and appreciate their sacrifice of time and dedication to protecting others. Please keep all the first responders in your thoughts and prayers as there are still ongoing challenges in the area. Additional relief crews are rolling in this morning. Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas are all battling similar situations as these fires continue to plague the area. The wind and poor conditions caused the suspension of air operations yesterday. Hopefully air operations can or did resume this morning. A little moisture would be welcome.
