Merry Christmas from all of us here at the GFPD!

Temperatures will drop below freezing Thursday night into Friday morning. Due to the melting snow and slight chance of rainfall, black ice spots can be a possibility. The main hours of concern are Thursday 8pm - Friday 9am. Please use caution when driving as black ice is nearly impossible to see.

The GFPD responded to a call yesterday at Boston Chapel Christian Church for a transformer sparking during their annual turkey dinner. After securing the scene and RECC restoring the power, our firemen who responded were treated to a delicious hot turkey dinner! We appreciate the staff at Boston Chapel Christian Church for the meal!

Rain was highly welcomed in the area last week, however, we are still experiencing dry conditions. If you need to burn, please be mindful of the current situation. Do NOT burn on windy days. NEVER leave your fire unattended. ALWAYS extinguish your fire when it’s complete as hot embers can ignite when blown.

Farmers, please have tillage tools hooked up and following your harvest crew.

The map we have been dreading to share. Up until this point winds have been relatively low but that is not the case for this Saturday and Sunday. Dry conditions, low humidity, and gusty winds are a disaster for hard to control field fires. Please continue to refrain from burning.

09/30/2025

The GFPD has been dispatched to many field fires recently. Harvest is in full swing and we are experiencing very dry conditions. Please refrain from burning as embers can ignite fires with the current conditions. Disposing of ci******es on the ground and in grassy areas could even lead to ignition. Once we receive measurable rain, we will reevaluate the burn conditions.
