This past weekend, two members of the Girard Fire Department attended the Search Academy hosted by the Wheat State Fools. This intensive training reinforced the fundamental skills that are critical to success on the fireground.

Participants received hands-on training in forcible entry, fire floor operations, VEIS (Vent, Enter, Isolate, Search), victim drags, ladder placement, victim packaging, and victim survivability techniques. Students practiced safe victim transfers while operating on ladders and worked through various patient and victim removal scenarios commonly encountered in residential structures.

The training provided valuable repetition of essential firefighting skills while emphasizing the importance of proficiency, coordination, and efficiency during emergency operations. These experiences help ensure our firefighters are prepared to perform at the highest level when called upon to serve our community.

The Girard Fire Department would like to congratulate Firefighter Lathe Murr and Instructor Clayton Bammer for successfully completing this outstanding training and instructor opportunity. We appreciate their dedication to continuing education and their commitment to improving their skills for the benefit of our department and the citizens we serve.
