Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEAs) are emergency information for your area, sent directly to your phone by government officials, which include National Weather Service warnings for destructive wind and hail, tornadoes, hurricanes, and flash floods.

Keep your WEAs enabled! Look under the settings menu for notifications or safety options, locate the government or emergency alert section, and toggle the switches ON for emergency and public safety alerts. 🚨

Starting January 1, 2027, New Hampshire's House Bill 1308 enacts much stricter penalties for drivers who unlawfully pass a stopped school bus with flashing red lights.

𝐊𝐞𝐲 𝐑𝐮𝐥𝐞𝐬

• Stopping Distance: You must stay at least 25 feet away from the front or rear of the bus.
• Both Directions: Drivers traveling behind the bus and drivers approaching from the opposite direction must stop.
• When to Move: You cannot move until the bus starts moving again or the red flashing lights turn off.

𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐏𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 (𝐄𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐉𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝟏, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟕)

First Offense:
• Classified as a class B misdemeanor.
• Fine of $300.
• Mandatory 7-day driver's license suspension.

Second Offense:
• Classified as a class A misdemeanor.
• Fine of $750 or more.
• License revocation of at least 30 days.

Third or Subsequent Offenses:
• Classified as a class A misdemeanor.
• Fine of $750 or more.
• Mandatory minimum sentence of 15 consecutive days in jail.
• Driver's license revocation for at least one year.
