Team History

The Gilroy Gators Swim Team (GGST) was founded in 1970 as a competitive age group swimming program within Gilroy's Parks and Recreation Department. In 1981 the team was incorporated as a non-profit corporation "to promote and encourage grade school and high school children to compete in swimming athletics for their own athletic and educational advancement." GGST has since separated f

rom Parks and Recreation to become an independently managed and financed organization. Our team philosophy is to emphasize and reward continuous self-improvement. Self-improvement is usually the result of hard work and dedication, and these are life traits that we would like our swimmers to possess. Swimming not only teaches dedication and hard work but also the importance of perseverance and the courage to set goals and reach for them. We love the sport of swimming here at GGST and want each and every one of our swimmers to reach their potential both in and out of the pool. We hope that our swimmers develop a love of the sport and use it as a lifelong physical conditioning program. We are constantly growing and training young swimmers to maintain a well-rounded competitive swim team. Please feel free to ask another member or coach any questions you may have.

Tonight the senior group had some fun! Coach Jud said if Anthony swam a 50 in under 25 second then all Cruisin Crocs and  Seniors  swimmers could get out of pool. He went 25.04 sooo close!! But they had to finish their set.

CVAL Meet #2 in Monterey! Our Caimans and Mighty Gator group swimmers did an amazing job! Gators were working hard in and out of the water! Cheering each other on and Swimmers getting out there and trying new events for the first time! Way to go Gators! 🐊

Tyler Zibell was on fire 🔥 in the water this past weekend at the Swim South Bay Meet! He took an incredible 3rd place in his 100 Backstroke. He placed 7th in 200 free and 7th in his 100 IM. Tyler’s hard work in practice paid off he PR’d in all Events! Way to go Tyler!
