The contest gave middle and high school students the opportunity to creatively address perspectives, experiences, and emotions surrounding this year’s theme of discovering beauty, embracing vulnerability, and overcoming hardships.
The winners (one each by age level and topic):

High School Poetry - Kai M., The Moment You Stopped Knowing Me (Grade 9, Gilroy Early College Academy, GI)
High School Art - Anvi G., Head in the Clouds (Grade 11, Milpitas High School, MI)
High School Essay - Diya A., Broken Glass, Each Piece a Different Color (Grade 11, Basis Independent Silicon Valley, SJ)

Middle School Poetry - Trisa T., In The Pool of People (Grade 8, Rancho Milpitas Middle School, MI)

"My essay was very personal but I hope it helps other people who might have also felt the way I did to know that we are surrounded by a lot of caring people, even if they're not biologically related to us or someone we didn't see as caring about us until later." – Eidyn O.
