Today, we celebrate Rob Bowen and an incredible 34 plus years of dedicated service in law enforcement.

For the past 6 years, Rob has proudly served with the Upshur County Sheriff’s Office, where he served as an Investigator and Supervisor of the Criminal Investigations Division. His experience, leadership, dedication, and commitment to serving others have made a lasting impact on the office, his fellow law enforcement officers, and the community.

After more than three decades of answering the call, solving cases, helping others, and making a difference, Rob has earned the opportunity to hang up the badge and begin a well-deserved new chapter.

Rob, thank you for all of your years of service, sacrifice, leadership, and dedication. Your contributions to law enforcement and the communities you served will not be forgotten.

Today, we have a heartfelt announcement and an opportunity to recognize and celebrate an incredible career of service.

After 38 years in law enforcement, Deputy Clay Robertson has announced his retirement. Deputy Robertson has proudly served as the School Resource Officer at New Diana Elementary since 2013, dedicating the past 13 years to protecting, supporting, and caring for the students and staff of New Diana Elementary.

For countless children, Deputy Robertson has been more than an SRO. He has been a familiar face in the hallways, a protector, a trusted friend, and someone they knew they could count on. His presence has made a lasting difference in the lives of the students and staff he has served.

We are incredibly grateful for Deputy Robertson’s 38 years of dedicated service to law enforcement and his 13 years of faithful service to the New Diana Elementary community. His commitment, kindness, and dedication will not be forgotten.

Stronger Together: Preparing for Complex Emergencies 🚔🚒🚑!

During the 89th Texas Legislative Session, House Bill 33 (HB 33) was passed, requiring countywide agencies to participate in training and exercises focused on responding to complex, multi-agency incidents.

This week, the Upshur County Sheriff’s Office hosted a two-day training/ exercise at the Gilmer Civic Center, bringing together Upshur County law enforcement, fire, EMS, and dispatch personnel. The goal was to strengthen communication, coordination, and overall response to large-scale emergencies.

Training together ensures we are better prepared to serve our community when it matters most.

A sincere thank you to all participating agencies and personnel who took time from their duties to train, collaborate, and prepare for the unexpected. Your dedication, professionalism, and commitment to Upshur County are deeply appreciated!
