Gillette Abuse Refuge Foundation We provide free and confidential services to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.

Our services are also available to friends, family, and other support persons to help them better understand the crisis the victim is experiencing. GARF services include:

Our incredible Shelter Coordinator, Crissie, was on the air with Vic this morning talking about our Chamber Mixer, (happening tomorrow, please join us 😁), and all things shelter!
Our shelter services assist nearly 100 survivors each year! Providing a safe place to stay, counseling, support to find housing and jobs, and independent living groups to teach important life skills.

We are excited to introduce you to our Board Member and FAVORITE Sheriff's Deputy, Dennis Brown!
"Since 1989, Dennis has served on various boards, church groups, and coached youth sports teams.
Dennis is a Christian, a husband, a father, and a grandfather. Dennis has been married to his wife Dierdre for 42 years, they have three children, Allen, Kenzie, and Ethan, and a granddaughter, Kirra. Dennis is a son, brother, uncle, and nephew. He is a Sheriff’s Deputy, a Camel, and a Veteran. Dennis is an avid collector of rocks, coins, and beer steins."
Dennis is a collector of rocks, but what you may not know is he is the PRESIDENT of our local rockhounding club - Northeast Wyoming Rockhounds! Dennis always knows the best spots to find the coolest rocks 💎😁

Welcome to another installation of !
Many may know this man from his time on City Council, but for those who don't know him, it is our honor to introduce you to Billy Montgomery, G.A.R.F. Board Member.
"I’m Billy Montgomery, it’s my honor to be serving on the G.A.R.F. board.
I have served on a variety of boards and was a member of Gillette City Council. I’m retired from BNSF, with 34 years of service as a Brakeman/Conductor. I served in the U.S. Army from 1968-1971, with a tour in Vietnam.
I hope by serving on boards like G.A.R.F., I can help make a difference in our community."
We at G.A.R.F. can say with confidence that you are making a difference, Billy! We appreciate your willingness to help with any task. From setting up events to running a race in an inflatable chicken costume 😂 BIlly will take on any task if it's for a good cause.
Fun fact about Billy - he is a motorcycle enthusiast! Keep an eye out on a nice day and you might just see him cruising around town on his Harley.

Meet Rita Jordan, Treasurer.
"I began my journey with G.A.R.F. by taking victim advocate classes, which led to the honor of being invited to serve as a board member. I’m a retired Detention Sergeant, having served 24 years with the Campbell County Sheriff’s Department, where I worked closely with both domestic violence victims and offenders. Throughout my career, I often turned to G.A.R.F. for support in work-related situations, and I’m proud to now give back to an organization that was there when I needed it most."
Fun fact about Rita - she is an avid gardener! Her garden is so prolific that she even sells some of her harvest each year. 🥕🫑🍅
