It's not enough to flip the house blue. We need Democrats brave enough to build something new.

What’s Happening on June 14th?

On June 14, the Committee for the First Amendment (CFA) and No Kings are hosting Rise Up, Sing Out: A Concert for the First Amendment, an uplifting evening of song, solidarity, and action. Featuring an all-star line-up of performers, this 90-minute concert event will celebrate the freedoms guaranteed by our First Amendment, of speech, religion, press, assembly, and protest and the people's power that both fuels these rights and is essential to guarantee them.

Even as authoritarians increase their attacks on our freedoms and communities, we see examples across the country of people rising up together, taking action, and turning back those forces.

The event will be streamed with watch parties all across the country, so wherever you are, you can sing along, find inspiration in the performances, build community, and take meaningful action together. The event will begin at 7:30 p.m. ET and run approximately 90 minutes.

The Lineup:

The concert will feature Jane Fonda, Patti Smith, Bette Midler, Rufus Wainwright, Sasha Allen, Joy Reid, Wilson Cruz, Broadway Inspirational Voices, and more!

Harvey Milk was the first openly gay man elected to public office in California. He put himself out there and stood up for what was right, even when it made him unpopular. He fought for equal rights for the LGBTQ community at a time when that took real courage.

He died because of it. Assassinated in 1978.

That's part of why we have Pride Month. To remember the people who stood up before it was safe to.

Happy Pride. 🏳️‍🌈

Residents in New Douglas, Livingston, and rural Staunton have been without consistent water for days. For some, it's been since Sunday. And tonight, they still don't have answers.

A meeting of the Three County Water District board was held tonight in New Douglas, Illinois. The meeting was standing room only.

The water tower is is close to empty. There is a big leak somewhere but as of tonight, no one knows where. A boil order is in place. And the community is hurting.

People aren’t able to bathe regularly. Rustic Acres campground lost $3,000 in a single day and was forced to cancel their entire weekend. Farmers, families, and businesses are all feeling it. People are not just inconvenienced, they are really at a breaking point.

The board took questions for over an hour. When I left, the meeting was still going. The frustration in that room was palpable, not just because of the water, but because of the lack of communication. The board had been communicating with customers almost exclusively through Facebook, while also telling residents not to trust Facebook this evening. Text alerts were only set up today. For many people in that room, the lack of communication has been just as painful as the lack of water.

The board was receptive to ideas brought by the crowd...calling in drone companies to locate the leak, bringing in water leak specialists and an engineer. That was something. But receptive isn't the same as resolved. And people have been waiting long enough.

Some of us from Macoupin County Indivisible attended tonight because our neighbors and family members are affected. We're on standby, watching, ready to help if the need grows. Right now it sounds like there is enough water available for distribution, but that can change.

**If you know someone in these areas, please reach out. Offer your shower. Offer your water. Show up for your neighbors.**

**Here's what you need to know right now:**

💧 Water is available TOMORROW at the New Douglas Rec Plex after 10 a.m. bottled water AND a tanker available for bulk water needs like flushing toilets.

📲 Watch the New Douglas Rec Plex page for updates & the water company's fb page.

📞 If you are in the Three County Water District, call and get your number registered for automatic text alerts.

People are angry. People are scared. And they deserve real answers.

We'll keep watching. 💙
