Join the Douglass Township Planning Agency, Township Staff, and the Montgomery County Planning Commission this evening for an interactive community workshop focused on improving the East Philadelphia Avenue corridor from Route 100 to the Swamp Pike Intersection. The event will be held at the Gilbertsville Fire and Rescue Company located at 1456 E. Philadelphia Avenue Gilbertsville, Pa. 19525 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM.

Tuesday May 19, 2026 is Municipal Election Day. Douglass Township, Montgomery County has four voting districts.

- Stay back 500 feet from our line-painting equipment
- Don't drive on the wet paint lines
- Don't pass the trucks in the paint train
- BE PATIENT! The paint truck will pull over periodically to let traffic pass

EAST PHILADELPHIA AVENUE REVITALIZATION PLAN OPEN HOUSE

PennDOT announced today that the bridge carrying Miller Road over the West Branch of Perkiomen Creek in Douglass Township, Montgomery County, has been closed due to severe deterioration of the wingwall and arch barrel discovered during a recent bridge inspection.

Motorists are advised that Miller Road will be closed and detoured between Paper Mill Road and Henry Road until PennDOT bridge engineers can develop a plan to repair and safely reopen the roadway.

During the closure, motorists will be directed to use Papermill Road, Lone Pine Road, and Niantic Road.

Local access will be maintained up to the bridge closure. Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling along the detour route because backups and delays may occur.

The single-span, stone masonry arch bridge was built in 1890. The structure is 14-feet-long, 18-feet-wide, and carries approximately 154 vehicles per day. Prior to closing, the bridge, which was listed in poor condition, was posted with a single weight limit of 18 tons and a combination weight limit of 25 tons.

Base Repair Operations Begin Monday on Gilbertsville Road in Douglass, Upper Pottsgrove Townships

King of Prussia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that base repair operations will begin on Monday, April 13, on Gilbertsville Road in Douglass and Upper Pottsgrove townships, Montgomery County.

Motorists are advised of the following travel restriction:

Monday, April 13, through Wednesday, April 22, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Gilbertsville Road will be closed and detoured weekdays between Farmington Avenue and Route 73 (Philadelphia Avenue). During the closure, motorists will be directed to use Farmington Avenue/Maugers Mill Road, Route 663 (Charlotte Street), and Route 73 (Philadelphia Avenue).

Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling near the work area because backups and delays may occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

The draft Pottstown Metropolitan Regional Comprehensive Plan is now available for review and comment! You can download and review the draft plan here: https://pottstownmetroregion.com/comprehensiveplan/ .

This plan is the culmination of a multi‐year planning process that was led by the Pottstown Metropolitan Regional Planning Committee with professional planning assistance from the Montgomery County Planning Commission, as well as technical and professional assistance from the Chester County Planning Commission. The draft plan incorporates public input gathered through an extensive community survey that received a total of 733 responses.
