Get out those cameras, it's time for the Village's Annual Calendar Cover Photo Contest! 📸

Each person may submit up to 2 photos for a chance to have one of them featured on the cover of the 2027 calendar! Although only 1 photo can be on the cover, 4 runner-up photos will be featured in the back of the calendar.

Submissions will be accepted until midnight on October 18th, 2026. After that, an internal team will vet the submissions and select the top 5 for the community to vote on for the winner. Note that we only vet the submissions because we don't think your selfie or meme belongs on the cover of the calendar (Sorry not sorry 🤭)

From October 21st to November 1st the community will vote on which photo of the 5 selected should be on the cover.
The winner and runner ups will be announced on November 4th.

Calendars will be mailed to every address within the Village, and they will be available at Village Hall for free no later than the third week of December. Note that you need a google login to submit using the form. But if you need an alternative, if you have any questions, or if you have trouble uploading your pictures with the form, send them directly to Brady Fisher at [email protected].

Before placing a political campaign sign in Gilberts, make sure you know what rules apply! 🪧

- Signs must be placed on private property only. Signs may not be placed within any public right-of-way or on any utility pole (see the photo examples).

- Signs cannot be placed in a manner that obstructs the line-of-sight at any intersection.

- Each property is permitted to have an aggregate total gross surface area of 64 square feet for temporary political signs.

- No sign can exceed 4 feet in height or 8 feet in width.

If you comply with these rules, a permit is not required, so keep them in mind!

We're pleased to once again host Gilberts' very own Sal and the Snapbacks as the next feature in our Music in the Park series! They will be playing on from 6-8pm.

You may remember Sal from being our first music in the park artist last year, and you will remember the rest of the band from Gilberts Community Days this year! 🤩 And if you haven't heard them yet, this is your perfect chance to see them live!

🍂The Village of Gilberts is now accepting fall applications for the Parkway Tree Replacement Program! Applications will be accepted through September 15th. Trees are an important contributor to the beauty of our community, and we are excited to plant more this fall!🍁

To apply, go to the Village's website here: https://www.villageofgilberts.com/index.php?m=210&s=269 under "Documents" > "Parks Department" > "Parkway Tree Replacement Application". Fill out the form and mark the area closest to where you want the replacement tree to go. Public Works will review your application and determine the exact location of the tree so that they don't interfere with any existing utilities.

If we run out of trees and you don't want to wait until the next season, you can also apply to plant your own! Just submit for a Parkway Tree Permit with the species and location you want and it will be reviewed by Public Works.

Clarke will be spraying for mosquitoes tonight, the evening of Wednesday August 12, 2026. This is in conjunction with surrounding municipalities to cut down on the population of mosquitos.

Get your lawn chairs and dancing shoes ready, this year's first Music in the Park event is next week!🌳🎶🎸🌳

From 6-8pm on Thursday July 23rd we will be hosting Mark Harrison for a free live performance at the Gazebo in Mueller Park. No tickets necessary, just good vibes and summer fun! We hope to see you there! 😁🥰
