The Black-eyed Susan patch is starting to burst! If anyone would like to have memories made amongst these remarkable flowers, Mariola, as you can see from her past creations here, really knows what she's doing. Just sayin'...

The Black-eyed Susan patch was slowed down by the drought but has begun to burst with the recent rain. The whole patch should be in peak, glorious form next weekend.

One in a million. (Well, one in 500 anyway.)

Shearing Virginia Pines is hard and often frustrating. And then BOOM. One of them will turn out like this. I would love to say it's all due to my 50 years of pruning experience, but there are many many MANY wonky looking trees in this field as well. Nope, it's all about genetics. And site location. (I would usually throw "rainfall" into that list, but we haven't had much of that this year. Pines are hardy!)

Dragging hoses and sprinklers around the farm to irrigate freshly sowed flower seed during a drought is, well... a “drag”. But there ARE visual and auditory rewards.

I snipped the lower branches off a couple Spartan Junipers this morning and stuffed ‘em into a vase. The foliage is a deep, vibrant, gorgeous green, with a pleasant aroma. I think I may be on to something, in terms of Christmas greenery displays. 😀🌲

Dead or Alive?

It’s cool to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Hollow Creek Tree Farm by starting a promising new chapter that could impact the whole Southern Christmas tree industry. This video highlights a failure of sorts in the research, BUT validates our focus on cloning the specific genetics found in our “Hollow Creek” Redwood.

Stay tuned on that, but in the meantime, here’s a video that’s both boring and fun.
