"I was told I had to have three miscarriages before I could be tested for fertility issues. After my third loss ended in a D&C, we were within 4 months of PCSing."

For Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month, we are shedding light on the distinct reproductive trauma experienced across our military community. Leading medical organizations like ACOG and ASRM explicitly define recurrent pregnancy loss as two or more losses and recommend initiating medical evaluations after the second loss. Yet despite these updated clinical standards, outdated administrative hurdles and inconsistent military medical protocols frequently force military families to endure three losses before authorizing necessary diagnostic testing. When you pair these restrictive barriers with constant PCS moves, spouses are often forced to reset their medical histories and start completely over with new providers in the middle of recovery or active treatment.

No service member or spouse should ever have to go through three losses just to get basic answers, only to have their care uprooted by orders to move. At Building Military Families Network, we stand with our families in these moments by offering dedicated peer support groups for loss and using data from our Military Family Building Survey to advocate for urgent policy reform within TRICARE and DoD healthcare systems to align military care with current medical guidelines.

If you are currently navigating pregnancy or infant loss, please know that you do not have to carry this grief alone. You can join our free, volunteer led peer support groups or share your experience in the 2026 MFBS by visiting the link in our bio to help us drive the policy changes our community deserves.

Military service changes more than where you live. 🏡

Military families face unique challenges when building their families—like PCS moves that interrupt treatment, deployments that add stress and uncertainty, and the struggle to find new providers with every move.

That’s why we’ve launched the 2026 Military Family Building Survey, presented by Amazon Military, in collaboration with the Institute for Veterans and Military Families - IVMF. Your experiences help us highlight the real barriers and drive meaningful change.

📲 Take 15 minutes to share your story and help us build better support for all military and veteran families: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/2026MFBS

❤️ This Friday—and every Friday—let’s paint our world RED for our deployed heroes! ❤️

Wearing red isn’t just a color choice—it’s a bold promise that we will never forget those serving far from home. Stand with us to Remember Everyone Deployed and show our military families that their courage and sacrifices are seen, valued, and supported.

Military families face unique challenges, especially when building their families during times of separation. Your simple act of wearing red sends a powerful message: you are not alone, and your community stands with you.

Snap a photo in your red, tag a friend, and help us create a wave of support that reaches every corner. Together, we can lift spirits, spark hope, and remind our heroes and their families that we’re with them—every step of the way.

7:00 PM PT | Reaching the West Coast. 🕯️

We light these candles for the precious babies remembered in soft, private silence tonight—unnamed in our video, but deeply loved and forever carried in our hearts.

To our military families across Pacific Time: we stand with you tonight and honor every single life gone too soon.

7:00 PM MT | Continuing the Wave of Light. 🕯️

Not every baby’s name was listed on screen tonight—some families asked us to simply light a candle for them in quiet remembrance. These flames are for those deeply loved lives.

To our military families across Mountain Time holding a quiet space in your hearts tonight: you are not alone. We remember with you.

As 7:00 PM CT arrives, the Wave of Light continues. 🕯️

These candles are lit in honor of the babies whose families chose to remember them in quiet privacy tonight, rather than in our video. Every quiet love matters. Every life is cherished.

To our military and veteran families across Central Time: we hold space for you and your precious babies tonight.
