While prior military service is not a requirement to joining the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, often it is found that prior service members adapt better and understand military structure. And any military specialty badges and awards that you earned during your military span, can be worn on your U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary uniform. Whenever you get underway, make sure to fill out a float plan and leave it with a trusted individual!

In case of emergency, a float plan can allow your friends or family to provide the Coast Guard with vital information that may assist in your rescue or assistance, no matter how big or small your vessel may be.
