Burn Ban Update: The Pierce County Fire Marshal, in coordination with local fire chiefs, has lowered our burn restrictions from Stage 2 to Stage 1, effective Tuesday, September 15th, until further notice.

Under Stage 1, residents may once again enjoy small recreational fires in approved fire pits. Barbecues that use gas, charcoal, or wood remain allowed. Stage 1 still prohibits burning yard debris.

Please continue to use caution with all outdoor fires and help prevent unnecessary fires in our community.

More AEDs are hitting the road in our community.

Earlier this year, the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office Peninsula Detachment reached out to Gig Harbor Fire & Medic One for assistance replacing aging AEDs in their patrol vehicles. Through the generosity of the MultiCare Foundation, which raises funds from community contributors to support health care initiatives throughout our region, we were able to turn that need into 10 new AEDs for our local law enforcement partners.

Four AEDs were provided to PCSO patrol vehicles within the Peninsula Detachment, and six were provided to the Gig Harbor Police Department, giving every sworn GHPD officer an AED in their assigned patrol vehicle.

“Our law enforcement partners are often in a position to arrive quickly when someone is experiencing cardiac arrest. Equipping their patrol vehicles with AEDs strengthens the chain of survival and gives our community another opportunity for lifesaving care to begin sooner,” said EMS Division Chief Dumas.

We’re grateful to the MultiCare Foundation for making this donation possible and to our law enforcement partners for their continued collaboration and commitment to our community.

Completing your entry-level firefighter probation! 👏

Last week, FF Briscoe’s crew celebrated this huge milestone with her. Eighteen months of hard work led to this moment, and now it’s official. She’s off probation!
