Update

Disregard if you got a message saying 9am for power being restored. Duke Power is rerouting and everyone WILL have power by 1am. The first neighborhoods should be online with him a hour and a half!

Hi everybody! Just wanted to give you all a quick update. I got a call from Duke Power. It was heat that caused equipment failure with the entire substation. So that encompasses Gibsonville, Eastern Guilford county, and parts of Burlington. They’re working on it right now and they’re bringing in a portable substation to bring some of our most vulnerable population back online, but that equipment coming from Charlotte. So they’re moving as fast as they can, and as I get updates I’ll share them with you. I know we’re all hot but if you know of an elderly neighbor that might be on oxygen or anything of the sort please check on them. Let me know of any urgent health concerns and we’ll try to mobilize and get help to them.

In light of our recent vistor(s) here are some Bear Basics.

Wildlife suggests that if you see a bear before it notices you, don’t approach. Stand still, enjoy, then quietly move away.

If a bear sees you, back away slowly. Never run; running may trigger a
chase response. If a bear approaches, hold your ground, wave your arms and yell
“Hey Bear” until it leaves.

If a black bear makes contact with you, do NOT play dead; fight back aggressively.
