📢 Calling All Ghent Businesses, Nonprofits & Community Organizations!

Registration is now open for exhibitors at Ghent Community Day 2026, taking place on Saturday, September 26, from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the Ghent Town Highway Garage.

This annual event is a great opportunity to connect with residents, showcase your organization, share information about your services, and celebrate everything that makes our community special.

✔️ Participation is FREE
✔️ Indoor exhibit space provided (limited outdoor space available upon request)
✔️ Open to organizations and businesses based in the Town of Ghent, as well as county-based organizations that serve Ghent residents (EMS, Office of the Aging, etc)
✔️ Space is limited and will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis
✔️ Exhibitors must provide their own tables, chairs, and display materials

Chatham-Ghent Senior Citizens Group Meets Monthly

The Chatham-Ghent Senior Citizens Group meets on the first Wednesday of each month at 1:00 p.m. at the Ghent Reformed Church, located at 1039 County Route 22 in Ghent.

The June meeting will take place on Wednesday, June 3 at 1:00 p.m. and will include refreshments, a brief business meeting, a guest speaker, and bingo.

This month’s guest speaker will be Eric Barnes, Manager of the Columbia County Fair. Mr. Barnes will discuss preparations for this year’s fair season, as well as construction currently underway for the new Agricultural Educational Center.

Residents interested in learning more or joining the group are encouraged to attend.

2026 Memorial Day Ceremony Moved Indoors

The 2026 Memorial Day Observance Ceremony will be held indoors at the Ghent Volunteer Fire Company, Rte 66, Ghent, today at 9am. Due to inclement weather, the parade portion of the ceremony has been canceled.

The Ghent VFW Post 5933 invites residents and visitors to the annual Memorial Day Observance, Monday May 25, 2026, as we honor the men and women who gave their lives in service to our nation.

The ceremony begins with a parade commencing at 9:00am at the Dairy Queen, continuing along Rte. 66 to the Ghent Fire Company. After the parade the ceremony will continue with remarks from honored guest speakers and local dignitaries, the presentation of colors, patriotic music, placing of wreaths and a moment of remembrance for those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

The Ghent VFW will host an open house with food and refreshments, beginning at 1:00pm.

Community members of all ages are encouraged to attend as we come together in gratitude and reflection.

The Town of Ghent announces the 2026 Summer Youth Recreation Program

The Summer Youth Recreation Program will run Monday through Friday from June 29 through July 31, 2026, from 8:30 AM to 2:30 PM. Camp is open to children who have completed one year of kindergarten or are at least 6 years old. Activities will include arts & crafts, games, sports, field trips, and more.

Program fees for Town of Ghent residents are $50 for one child or $100 per family. The fee for non-resident children $175 per child. More information and applications are available online on the Town website:
https://townofghent.org/summer-youth-recreation-program/ or at Ghent Town Hall. Completed applications and payment are due by June 15, 2026.

Important reminders for families:
• A current immunization record is required for attendance
• Campers must bring their own lunch each day (refrigerator available onsite)
• Children should also bring 2–3 bottles of water daily
• Camp will close during heavy rain or thunder
• All children must be picked up promptly by 2:30 PM
