A little breakfast this morning at Siegel-Kline Kill 🥐✨

American goldfinches are active foragers, visiting weeds, shrubs, and trees and hanging on thistles to reach seeds! Public lands are lovely spots to see birds, especially in the mornings.

Come explore the meadows and floodplain forest of the Siegel-Kline Kill Conservation Area to imagine what the local landscape was like for native people five centuries ago. This program is led by local ethnoecologist Justin Wexler, who has been reconstructing the precontact Hudson Valley landscape for over two decades.

Drowned Lands Conservation Area is not plowed at all.
High Falls, Siegel-Kline Kill, Ooms, and Borden's Pond were plowed yesterday, and will be plowed again today.
All other sites will be plowed today for the first time.

Stay safe, and thanks for your patience as we all dig out of the snow.
