The attacks on September 11, 2001, shattered Americans’ sense of safety, brought security concerns to the forefront of the national conversation and ushered in a new chapter of safeguarding of American institutions. Security measures that once seemed extraordinary became part of everyday American life. Today we pause to remember the 2,977 people who died at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and in Shanksville, Pennsylvania. May their memories always be for a blessing.

On Sunday, 25 wonderful participants gathered at Glen Park for Reverse Tashlich, joining together with Tikkun HaYam - Repair the Sea for a meaningful cleanup. Inspired by the Jewish tradition of Tashich -casting away what no longer serves us- we turned those intentions into action by caring for our local environment, picking up one piece of trash at a time. The morning ended with a powerful shofar blast from our friend John Dubrowin, awakening our senses and preparing our hearts and minds for the New Year ahead. What a beautiful way to begin this season of reflection, renewal, and purpose.🌎♻️🌳

Long before Erin Casper became the Buffalo Jewish Federation’s Director of Development, she was simply a kid growing up in Jewish Buffalo. As she grew up, there was always a place for her, from childhood to high school, and from becoming a working professional to becoming a parent.
