Rotarians Celebrate Friendship at Summer Picnic

Thirty six members and guests from our club and District 7390 enjoyed an evening of delicious food and entertainment on the evening of August 27th. The event occurred at club member Kathleen Reilly's, Seven Sky Farm in Gettysburg, a cattle ranch with an event barn that features grass fed beef in an idyllic location. Members were also entertained for the second time this year by seasonal park ranger, Emily Mullen who is also a concert violinist. Emily took multiple requests to fill out an evening of enjoyment and comradery to celebrate the end of a great Rotary year and the unofficial end of summer. Special thanks to Kathleen for the hospitality and to our picnic commander, Elida Murray who not only planned and organized the event, but also cooked many of the treats and loaned the club some much needed picnic furniture. Thank you also to PDG Mary Brunski and Assistant Governors Harold Cooney and Carmen Calderon for joining us to make the event even more special.

The Rotary Club of Gettysburg welcomed Brendan Salyards, from the Good Samaritan Lodge this week. Brendan shared the history of the Free and Accepted Masons and the impact the organization had during the American Revolution. Locally, the Good Samaritan Lodge engages in philanthropic endeavors like food and clothing drives.

When local service organizations can lift each other up, it only makes Gettysburg a stronger community. Thank you again, Brendan, for sharing your time and insights with our club!

The Rotary Club of Gettysburg came out in full force this past Saturday in support of the Adams County Farmers Market and their Kid's Day. The kids learned about and tried fresh local fruit and vegetables.

This week, the Rotary Club of Gettysburg was proud to celebrate Anna-Mae Day!

Anna-Mae has been an extraordinary member of our club, living out Rotary's motto of Service Above Self in countless ways. Her dedication has made a lasting impact on Gettysburg, Adams County, and communities far beyond.

Whether leading as Chair of our Philanthropy Committee, volunteering to ring the Salvation Army Red Kettle bell, or serving as a District Governor, Anna-Mae has inspired all of us through her leadership, generosity, and unwavering commitment to serving others.

We are incredibly grateful for her wisdom, friendship, and the example she sets each and every day. Thank you, Anna-Mae, for all you have done, and continue to do, for our club and our community. We are fortunate to have you as part of the Rotary Club of Gettysburg!

The Rotary Club of Gettysburg has more than just great speakers at our bi-monthly luncheons. On July 6th, seasonal park ranger and concert violinist, Emily Mullen surprised club members with an outstanding rendition of patriotic and traditional songs. Emily is a super talented artist who once received a Rotary scholarship to attend Shenandoah University. She was followed by the Producing Artistic Director of the Totem Pole Playhouse, Ryan Gibbs, who discussed the history and upcoming performances of that popular venue. It was an enjoyable day for our club members following right after America’s 250th Birthday.

Recently The Rotary Club of Gettysburg was honored to host Adams County Commissioner Randy Phiel for its Distinguished Speaker Luncheon. Commissioner Phiel updated club members with the major issues and top priorities facing Adams County and its residents. The Rotary Club of Gettysburg meets the first and third Mondays at noon in the Gettysburg Hotel. All are welcome to attend a meeting to learn more.
