Have a question? Know who to ask on the Chain of Command.
With 66 Detachments in the Department of Pennsylvania, it is important to know where to find the answers to your questions. Using your Chain of Command is very important. Your first stop should always be to try and research on your own using the Department and National websites. This way you are "learning to fish, rather than someone giving you a fish".
The Marine Corps League uses the Chain of Command in all aspects to ensure business runs smoothly. When you ask the wrong people, climb too far up the chain of command, you can hurt the flow of a successful 'business'.
Asking the wrong people: You may get wrong answers.
Jumping too far up the chain without stopping: This does not hold your immediate officers accountable, and having the highest level taking too much time away from other tasking could pull them away from other pressing matters.
Detachment Member -> Detachment Officers -> District Vice Commandant -> Department Officers / Department Committee Chairpersons -> Division Vice Commandant -> National Staff
Again, always check websites and learn to maneuver the tabs therein, but after exhausting all efforts to learn and become a better mentor to you successor, follow the chain so we all can be accountable for the officer we were elected and trusted to serve to the best ability.
