We have some assistant football coach positions available at Gervais High School to work with our new head coach Michael Davenport. He is passionate about football and excited to continue to support and grow the program at GHS. With a new turf field, bleachers, and scoreboard, the district is making exciting and important investments in this program. The team has also had a lot of success on the field and this is a great time to get involved to help with a successful program. We encourage any interested applicants to apply here:

Gervais track and field finished its season at the OSAA State Championships with three podium finishes and 13 points for 17th place. Mitchell Boyd threw a massive personal best of 47’01 in the shot put to capture 2nd place. He also competed in the discus, where he placed 11th. Ben Cam placed 7th in the long jump with a leap of 20’03. The 4 x 100 meter relay team of Alex Lezama, Eduardo Veytia, Lincoln Jones, and Ben Cam were on the podium with a 6th place finish. Their time of 44.73 is the second fastest time in Gervais school history, missing the school record of 44.67 by a whisker. Freshman Juan Cruz finished 13th in the 3000 meter run with a time of 9:56.48 - he is the first Gervais runner to qualify to state in the 3000 meter run since 1971. Also accompanying the team as alternates for the relay were Kopi Orlov and Maksim Martusheff.

We had our Senior VIP Luncheon this afternoon, hosted by the College and Career Center. Andrea Oropeza and Sophie Ferreira have been working hard to create some amazing experiences for our students to prepare for their many post-secondary options. What an awesome way to gather outside and celebrate with these seniors...and win some cool prizes.

There will be a volleyball clinic this Saturday, May 30 at GMS for students grades 3-5 (9:00-10:30 AM) and grades 6-8 (11:00 AM-12:30 PM). Cost is $5 per participant. More information is attached, along with the QR code to sign up.

The Gervais Cougars concluded the 2A Special District Track and Field meet with the boys finishing 5th and the girls 8th. The 4 x 100m relay team of Alex Lezama, Eduardo Veytia, Lincoln Jones, and Ben Cam ran the second fastest time in school history (44.75) to place second to earn a trip to the State Meet. Mitch Boyd placed 2nd in the discus and will compete in the State Championships in that event, along with shot put. Freshman Juan Cruz is currently holding a wild card slot to the State Meet in the 3000m. On the girl’s side, junior Mela Kuznetsov made the podium in three events - both hurdle races and the triple jump.

We had some GHS FFA students working at GES this week to share some exciting "Ag in the Classroom" lessons with our elementary students. These FFA members are phenomenal leaders and such positive role models for our younger students. So grateful for their willingness to connect and give back to our school community. We were glad to have Kurt Willet from Harris Thermal Transfer Products working with our welding students at GHS this morning. This partnership brought a lot of industry experience and he was able to coach our students with very practical tips to improve their welding. It's great to see how classroom learning transfer to careers after high school.

Great first day for the Gervais Cougars at the 2A District 1 Track and Field Championships! Ben Cam won the long jump and qualified to State with a huge PR of 21’00.75 - which places him 6th on the Gervais all-time list. Mitch Boyd also punched his ticket to the State Meet by winning the shot put with a toss of 45’09.25. Altogether the boys and girls teams amassed 10 personal best performances.
