If you've never had a Gering Public Library card, you can come get one as well. New cards are always free.

Pass It On! Youth Sports Equipment Exchange QUICK Q&A

We’re getting ready for our first Youth Sports Equipment Exchange! Keep Scottsbluff Gering Beautiful is partnering with the Gering Public Library to give outgrown youth sports gear another season. ♻️

Here are a few things to know:

❓ What can I donate?
Clean, complete and usable youth sports equipment — including pads, bats, gloves, balls, sports shoes and cleats, golf clubs, equipment bags, dance gear and sport-specific uniform pieces.

❓ Can I donate helmets?
No. We cannot accept helmets, mouthguards or other personal-use/safety-sensitive items.

❓ When can I donate?
📦 September 14 & 15 | 4:30–6:30 PM
No early drop-offs. Donors must stay while items are checked and take home anything we cannot accept.

❓ Do I have to donate to get equipment?
No! No donation is required.

❓ When is the FREE exchange?
♻️ September 16 | 4:30–6:30 PM
Everything available is FREE. No early pickups and no holds.

The Gering Public Library Foundation believes the future of our library should reflect the needs and priorities of the people who use it every day. That's why we're inviting everyone to participate in a community survey. Please fill out the survey at gplfoundation.org by September 14.

The feedback gathered will guide project planning and determine whether the community is ready to support a capital campaign. Thank you for shaping the next chapter of the library!

On Tuesday, September 22nd, at 6:30pm, we will be joined by Martin Knife Chief, a member of the Hunkpapa/Oglala tribe and a Lakota historian. Come learn about the history and culture of the Lakota. This event is free thanks to funding from a grant through Roam Nebraska and the Nebraska State Historical Society. Join us at the Gering Civic Plaza for this exciting presentation!
