Borrowed from my cousins page, a Sailor we both were trained in the South African Navy

( borrowed from Brother-in-Arms page🇿🇦😁)

I'M A SAILOR!

We joined the military as young men and women but we became AIRMEN/ SOLIERS / or SAILORS. We were taught not to see race, s*x and age but to see each other as fellow countrymen and women.

Education has taught us that dirt causes diseases that leads to death. But true life experience as sailors on a ship, at shore or in the field has taught us that sometimes it is dirt that will save your life.

When we went home after our training we were told that we are different and we do things different since we joined the military. Yes it is true we are different and we act different because the human spirit in us has been killed and replaced by a sailors spirit.

We are trained not to walk like humans, think differently, talk differently, go where humans run from, but to run towards, to give selflessly, to put our beautiful country South Africa and the United States and its people before our own lives, and mostly to value the life of the people we are protecting.

During our training it was compulsory to have a bible despite of having different faith and religions beliefs because we had one thing in common with . People will think of us during war and other things such as disasters, but will forget us when all has passed.

Being a is our profession that requires us to possess the following skills, pilot, engineer, weapon specialist, air traffic controller, doctor, nurse, architect, coxswain, pastor, quartermaster - jet fuel and rations and so much more.

We dont go around boasting shouting about our level of education to the people that we are trained to humble ourselves to. So when you undermine sailors saying that they posses only matric certificates, they may be graduates of another discipline at College or University and they don't need to react to snide remark’s, its not that what you are saying be true, but we are trained to be humble ourselves towards the people we are or have served.

Sailors are a special breed of individuals that are trained not to quit when quitting seems to be the only option. Sailors are a small Band of bread of individuals that are trained to see what seems to be an unachievable or entitlement for ordinary people, but its a privilege to us. are a special breed that never have a dying spirit.

I'm a proud product of the ZA military. I'm a sailor. Today I have families around the country and around the world that I am roud to call my fellow countrymen and countrywomen and that family is my fellow brothers and sisters at arms and the ones who Served for our country South Africa 🇿🇦 and the Flag and sll that it stands for.

There are no ex sailors but Veterans.

SAILORS!!!

Copy and paste!

Proud to be a Military Vet.

To understand a Military Veteran you must know:
* We left home as teenagers or in our early twenties for an unknown adventure.
* We loved our country enough to defend it and protect it with our own lives.
* We said goodbye to friends and family and everything we knew.
* We learned the basics and then we scattered in the wind to the far corners of the Earth.
* We found new friends and new family.
* We became brothers and sisters regardless of colour, race or creed.
* We had plenty of good times, and plenty of bad times.
* We didn’t get enough sleep.
* We may have smoked and drank too much.
* We loved a lot more or hated more how we had become.
* We picked up both good and bad habits.
* We worked hard and played harder.
* We didn’t earn a great wage.
* We experienced the happiness of mail call and the sadness of missing important events.
* We didn’t know when, or even if, we were ever going to see home again.
* We grew up fast, and yet somehow, we never grew up at all.
* We fought for our freedom, as well as the freedom of others.
* Some of us saw actual combat, and some of us didn’t.
* Some of us saw the world, and some of us didn’t.
* Some of us dealt with physical warfare, most of us dealt with psychological warfare.
* We have seen and experienced and dealt with things that we can’t fully describe or explain, as not all of our sacrifices were physical.
* We participated in time honored ceremonies and rituals with each other, strengthening our bonds and camaraderie.
* We counted on each other to get our job done and sometimes to survive it at all.
* We have dealt with victory and tragedy.
* We have celebrated and mourned.
* We lost a few along the way.
* When our adventure was over, some of us went back home, some of us started somewhere new and some of us never came home at all.
* We have told amazing and hilarious stories of our exploits and adventures.
* We share an unspoken bond with each other, that most people don’t experience, and few will understand.
* We speak highly of our own branch of service, and poke fun at the other branches.
* We know however, that, if needed, we will be there for our brothers and sisters and stand together as one, in a heartbeat.
* Being a Veteran is something that had to be earned, and it can never be taken away.
* It has no monetary value, but at the same time it is a priceless gift.
