We still need BOOKS.

Sweden recently banned screens in classrooms following a reported 10% drop in literacy scores. While today’s children are digital natives, their developing brains still require analog experiences such as reading, writing, hands-on problem solving, and focused interaction to build core cognitive skills. Excessive screen time can overstimulate attention systems, reduce sustained focus, and limit opportunities for critical thinking that slower, reflective tasks naturally provide.

The $1B technology initiative aimed to integrate devices into daily learning, but early results suggest it may have hindered literacy and comprehension rather than enhanced them. Educators now emphasize analog approaches to rebuild attention, reasoning, and memory skills. Carefully balanced digital exposure can complement learning, but foundational skills flourish only when children engage in tactile, sequential, and deeply focused activities.

$1B tech experiment is being dismantled.

Technology is here to stay, but early education must respect how the brain naturally develops and thrives.
