Please use extra caution while traveling today. Numerous roads throughout the city and county are experiencing flooding, and water levels continue to rise.

Interstate 75 has already seen multiple collisions due to standing water on the roadway.

🚗 Slow down. Increase following distance. Avoid unnecessary travel if possible.

🌊 If you encounter a flooded roadway, DO NOT attempt to drive through it. Turn around and find an alternate route.

Your safety is our priority. Please stay alert and stay safe.

Great Job GPD !

Officers conducted a traffic stop on an individual for multiple traffic violations and observed suspected co***ne in plain view inside the vehicle. During the stop, nearly 50 individually packaged bags of suspected co***ne were located.

The case also led to a search warrant at a residence in Lexington, where suspected fentanyl and methamphetamine were recovered. The male has since been indicted by the Scott County Grand Jury on multiple felony charges related to narcotics trafficking and possession.

The Georgetown Police Department remains committed to removing dangerous drugs from our community while also supporting those seeking help for addiction.

We’re excited to invite Georgetown youth to take part in our Jr. Citizens Police Academy, happening July 13th–16th, 2026!

This free program is open to ages 13–17 and offers a hands-on, behind-the-scenes look at law enforcement — from traffic stops and investigations to K9 demonstrations and more. It’s an experience they won’t forget!

Today’s a great reminder that more cyclists may be out on the road—whether commuting, exercising, or just enjoying the ride.

Drivers, please:

✔️ Slow down and stay alert, especially when passing
