June is National Safety Month, and we're proud to recognize the commitment our Electric Utility brings to safety every day. ⚡

This year the team earned the American Public Power Association's Diamond Level Safety Award—the highest level of recognition for utility safety programs.

Their dedication has also resulted in some impressive milestones:
✅ More than 1,200 days without an OSHA recordable incident
✅ More than 1,500 days without an OSHA lost-time incident
✅ More than 3,108 hours of safety and professional training annually to ensure our team stays prepared, informed, and safe on the job.

These achievements reflect a strong safety culture, attention to detail, and a team that looks out for one another while providing reliable electric service to our community.

Thank you to our Electric Utility employees for making safety part of everything you do!

💚Less mowing

Design of the new Customer Service Center is nearing completion, with construction to begin early next year🎊. The facility will be built at the Southwestern University 560 project at Southwestern University which includes retail, office, restaurant, and hospitality uses.

The $56 million center, funded by voter-approved bonds in 2023, will be home to more than 250 employees serving in several, customer-facing City of Georgetown departments, including askGTX, Code Compliance, Customer Care, Development Engineering, Economic Development, Fire Marshal, Human Resources, Information Technology, Permitting and Building Inspections, Planning, System Engineering, and Utility Billing. This 75,000-square-foot building is expected to open in mid-2028.

The City of Georgetown will reimburse up to $8.5 million to Southwestern University for the cost of roads at SU 560.

"We are truly excited to get started on our new Customer Service Center at Southwestern University. Housing many of our customer-facing departments, this facility will help launch a new destination location for retail, entertainment, and services in Georgetown. We look forward to working with Southwestern to partner on this signature development in our city."—Georgetown Mayor Josh Schroeder

Work on other 2023 City facility bond projects is underway:
🏢 YMCA: A groundbreaking was held Friday, May 29, for this facility, to which the City is contributing $10 million. It will be located on Williams Drive near Jim Hogg Road. The facility is expected to open by the end of 2027.
🏢Animal Shelter expansion: Design work should be complete this fall on the $15 million expansion of the Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter.
🏢 Recreation Center expansion: Selection of an architect should be approved this summer.
