Thank you to Governor Maura Healey for proclaiming today Firefighters Memorial Sunday 2026, honoring Boston Fire Department Firefighter Robert "BK" Kilduff, Jr, and all departed firefighters: "Their contributions to our collective safety and well-being should never be forgotten."

The fire and explosion at a Maine lumber mill that killed one firefighter and injured several other people earlier this month involved combustible dust, according to new information released today by the Office of the Maine State Fire Marshal.

Combustible dust is a significant yet often misunderstood industrial hazard that can result in flash fires and even explosions under certain conditions.
