We need Senior Companions!
First State’s Senior Companion Program connects adults age 55 and older with seniors who could use a little extra support to remain independent and connected in their communities.
Our Senior Companions provide friendship and peer support, and may also help with things like grocery shopping, light meal preparation, transportation and light housekeeping. They can also provide important relief and support for family caregivers.
Right now, we have more seniors who need companions than we have people available to match with them. We are actively looking for caring, dependable adults age 55+ who would enjoy spending their time making a real difference in someone else’s life.
Senior Companions receive a modest stipend for their service and must meet AmeriCorps Seniors income eligibility guidelines. For 2026, income must be at or below 200% of the federal poverty guideline. Income eligibility has specific rules, so if you are unsure whether you qualify, please reach out and let our team help determine your eligibility.

Our Senior Companion team works every day to make these connections happen, matching companions with older adults who need them and supporting those relationships along the way.
