Georgetown/Scott County EMS was proud to provide event stand-by coverage for tonight’s Truck & Tractor Pull at Charles Brooking Park.

It was great to see so many community members come out and enjoy an evening of family fun, powerful machines, and friendly competition. We appreciate everyone who helped make the event a success and are thankful for the opportunity to serve and support our community.

Thank you to the organizers, participants, and spectators for a great night. We hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable time!

Ready to start your career in emergency medical services? Join our upcoming EMT class and take the first step toward making a difference in your community!

📅 Program Dates: August 18th – December 10th
🕓 Class Schedule: Tuesdays & Thursdays, 4:00–8:00 PM
đź“Ť Additional Requirement: Mandatory weekend sessions (dates to be announced)

âś… Eligibility Requirements:
• High school senior or older

đź“„ Required Documents:
• Driver’s License
• Insurance Card
(If you need a declination due to not having insurance, email McKayla)
• Vaccination Records: COVID, Flu, MMR, Hep A, Hep B, TDAP
• Physical (within the last 6 months)
• TB Skin Test or TB Gold Lab Result (within the last 3 months)

Our 16-hour Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC) course is built for responders who need to make critical decisions under pressure. This hands-on classroom experience includes realistic patient simulations and practical skills training designed for high-threat and mass-casualty environments.

Topics include:
• Hemorrhage control & rapid tourniquet application drills
• Full MARCH assessment training
• Surgical airway control & needle decompression
• Treating wounded responders in hostile environments
• Pediatric casualty care
• Victim drag & carry techniques
• Final mass-casualty / active shooter simulation

This isn’t a lecture-only course; it’s scenario-driven, high-intensity training focused on real-world readiness.

Today, Georgetown-Scott County EMS pauses to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. Their courage, dedication, and selflessness will never be forgotten.

As we spend time with family and friends this Memorial Day, let us take a moment to reflect on the freedoms we enjoy because of those who gave everything to protect them.

As EMS Week comes to a close, Georgetown–Scott County EMS wants to take a moment to recognize and thank the providers who make this profession what it is.

To our crews here at home and EMS professionals everywhere, thank you for your dedication, your resilience, and your commitment to serving others on their worst days. The long hours, the missed holidays, the split-second decisions… none of it goes unnoticed.

This week, we were proud to celebrate our team, and we’re just as proud to stand alongside EMS providers across the country who answer the call every single day.
