⛳️💜 WHAT. A. DAY.

Yesterday’s Elizabeth’s Village 5th Annual Golf Scramble was everything we hoped it would be, a whole lot of golf, even more laughs, and an incredible group of people coming together to support the women and families we serve.

We have so many people to thank for making the day such a success!

💜 Modern Woodmen of America Adam Hires for their incredible $5,000 matching gift and continued belief in our mission.

🏆 American Mini Storage and VIP Car Wash for stepping up as our Legacy and Champion Sponsors. Support at this level makes a HUGE difference for a small nonprofit like ours, and we are so grateful.

😂 Goo Mcintyre for spending the day on the course keeping our golfers laughing as our on-course comedian, you definitely made this scramble one to remember!!

⛳️ And, of course, EVERY SINGLE PLAYER, SPONSOR, VOLUNTEER, DONOR AND SUPPORTER who showed up, played along with our shenanigans, gave generously, and made the day so much fun.

Events like yesterday are about more than a round of golf. Every team, sponsorship, mulligan, game and donation helps Elizabeth’s Village continue providing safety, shelter and support to survivors of domestic violence and families experiencing homelessness right here in our community.

We laughed. We golfed. We probably lost a few balls. 😂 But most importantly, our community showed up.

From all of us at Elizabeth’s Village…THANK YOU for making yesterday such an incredible day. 💜⛳️

We already can’t wait to do it again!

💜 ONE YEAR OF HALEY HOUSE. ONE YEAR OF KEEPING THE PORCH LIGHT ON. 🏡✨

One year ago today, on September 2, 2025, Haley House opened its doors.

For the first time, survivors of domestic violence in Georgetown and Scott County had an emergency shelter right here in their own community, a place where women and children could come when home was no longer safe.

Over the past 365 days, that porch light has stayed on.

It has been on in the middle of the night when someone needed somewhere safe to go.
It has been on for moms arriving with their children and only what they could carry.
It has been on through fear, uncertainty, fresh starts, new apartments, new jobs, hard days, and some really incredible victories.

And today, we get to celebrate ONE YEAR. 💜

Haley House was built because this community believed survivors deserved somewhere safe to turn. Keeping it open takes that same community.

That’s why, on our first anniversary, we’re asking you to help us Keep the Porch Light On.

Every donation helps provide the things that make safety possible, shelter, utilities, transportation, basic needs, advocacy, and a team that answers when someone needs us.

Whether it’s $10, $25, $100 or more, you are helping make sure that when the next survivor needs a safe place to go, the light is still on and the door is still open.

🏡 One year down. So many lives ahead of us.

Help us celebrate Haley House’s first birthday by making a gift to our Keep the Porch Light On Campaign:

What a Sunday!! ☀️

A huge thank you to Grace Christian for welcoming Elizabeth’s Village into all three services today and giving us the opportunity to share our mission, our work, and the heart behind what we do. Especially when we get to share the stage with other incredible non/profit leaders in our community!

Today’s message on unity and being curious enough to explore things that may challenge the way we think really stuck with us. Because that’s how stronger communities are built! When we’re willing to listen, learn, ask questions, and better understand what our neighbors may be walking through.

Domestic violence and homelessness aren’t always easy things to talk about, but conversations like these matter. And when churches, organizations, and community members come together with open hearts, we can do so much more for the people who need us.

Thank you, GC family, for making space for us today and for reminding us what community can look like when we choose unity 💜

We’re grateful to be part of this always growing village!

Every minute, 24 people in the U.S. are hurt by an intimate partner—pause and let that sink in. 🕒

Domestic violence isn’t “just a private issue.” It can lead to injuries, long-term trauma, and even death, touching everyone from survivors to kids, coworkers, and communities.

And it carries a huge financial toll too—medical care, lost work time, housing moves, legal costs, and ongoing support that survivors often have to piece together while trying to stay safe.

If you could change one thing in your community to make it easier for someone to get help sooner, what would it be? 💜🗣️

Coercive control doesn’t always look like what people imagine when they hear the word “abuse”

It can look like checking someone’s phone, controlling the money, tracking their location, deciding who they can see or setting rules they’re afraid to break.

Over time, these behaviors can slowly take away a person’s freedom, independence and sense of safety.

It may not leave a bruise, but it can control an entire life 💜

Survivors may arrive to The Haley House with very little, not because they failed to plan, but because safety could not wait ⏰

A porch light seems like such a small thing until you’re the one searching for a safe place to land....

At The Haley House, that light means the door is open. A warm bed is ready. Someone will answer the phone. And a woman and her children won’t have to face their next step alone.

Keeping that light on takes all of us 💜

Every gift, no matter the size, helps provide safety, comfort and a fresh start for survivors right here in our community.
