Georgetown, it’s that magical time of year again — School opens Wednesday. Get those freeloaders out of your house and back to school. 🚸🚌

🎒 A Few Important Reminders
• Extra Caution at bus stops — Kids will be everywhere.
• Slow down in school zones — Kids move unpredictably.
• Watch for buses — Flashing lights + extended stop sign = you stop. No exceptions.

🚫 No Drop Off at GMHS
There is no student drop-off allowed at GMHS. None. Zero. Zip. If you attempt it, you will meet a very polite Georgetown Police Officer giving you the “we talked about this” look.

✅ Perley is the Recommended Drop Off Location
We strongly recommend using Perley for morning drop-off. It’s safer, smoother, and significantly less likely to cause back-ups on Maple and Winter

👮 We’ll Be Out Monitoring
Officers will be watching bus routes, crosswalks, and morning traffic to help keep everyone safe. A little patience goes a long way during the first days of the school year.

🥫 Help Fill the Red Bin! ❤️

The red donation bin is located at the exit to Crosby's Market and is accepting non-perishable food donations for the Georgetown Council on Aging Food Bank.

A simple trip to the grocery store can make a big difference for a local senior or family in need. If you're shopping, please consider picking up an extra item or two and dropping it in the red bin on your way out.

Suggested donations include:

Canned soups, vegetables, and fruit
Peanut butter and jelly
Pasta and pasta sauce
Rice and boxed meals
Cereal and oatmeal
Canned tuna or chicken
Coffee, tea, and other pantry staples
Pet food

Every donation, no matter the size, helps support members of our Georgetown community.

Georgetown Police Department Seeking Re-Accreditation from Massachusetts Police Accreditation Commission: Chief David Sedgwick is pleased to announce that a team of assessors from the Massachusetts Police Accreditation Commission (MPAC) will arrive on July 14, 2026, to conduct a comprehensive on-site evaluation of the Georgetown Police Department’s policies, procedures, operations, and facilities as the department seeks re-accreditation.

**UPDATE 10:12AM**
Thanks to some quick work by our amazing Light Department, they’ve been able to isolate the issue and re-route power to affected residents. At this point in time, power should be restored (the traffic lights are working again). Please call if you’re reading this and still without power.

Update: this is an outage affecting the East Main Street and North Street circuits. Lots of streets affected across town.

The Georgetown Police Department is aware of a significant power outage affecting portions of the Central Street, Carleton Drive, and Elm Street areas. Utility crews have been notified and are working to restore service as quickly as possible. Residents are urged to only call 911 for emergency purposes only.
