Hyde Park Zoo Sanctuary and Tropical Gardens Inc. wishes to inform the general public that the facility will NOT be opening on March 3rd as previously anticipated due to unforeseen delays.

We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience and understanding as we work diligently to finalise all necessary arrangements to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for our visitors.

His Excellency, Dr. Irfaan Ali, was given a curated tour of phase one at Hyde Park Sanctuary and Tropical Gardens on Tuesday.

President Ali was accompanied by his son Zayd; the Minister of Tourism Industry and Commerce, Oneidge Walrond and Minister of Natural Resources, Vickram Bharrat.

In observance of HPZ hosted schools as part of its edutainment programme to bring awareness to the conservation of key endemic species.

This year’s theme, “Recovering key species for ecosystem restoration” aligns with UN sustainable goals 1, 2, 12,13,14 and 15. Let’s make 2022 the year we drive the debate towards the pertinent need to reverse the fate of these critically endangered and vulnerable species. At HPZ, we aspire to and life land.

Capuchins, cebus capucinus, as seen with our friend Joey here, are native to the Amazonas, particularly Brazil and can easily adapt to places colonised by humans. Any Friends fans may recall Marcel, Ross’s pet monkey.

Capuchins are intelligent and highly social - they love big groups! But if you’re another primate specie watch out for these guys, capuchins are territorial and mark their territories by soaking their feet and hands in urine!

Don’t feel like walking? Jump on a golf cart at Hyde Park Zoo!

Come 5pm everyday at HPZ is a birders delight! A flock of Amazona Amazonica can be seen and heard flying from tree to tree, enjoying the variety of fruit and nut trees grown at HPZ.

Soursop, with a similar scent to pineapple has been described as a human chemo in some regions. Hailing from the Caribbean and Americas, this magic fruit has been lauded for its many uses from the pulp to boiling the leaves for tea.

At HPZ, we have an array of fruit trees grown naturally and some planted. This colossal sized soursop, was picked from its evergreen tree at Hyde Park Zoo, Sanctuary and Tropical Gardens.
