Weather Update: The National Weather Service Wilmington has extended the Severe Thunderstorm Watch for Georgetown County until 10 PM tonight, Saturday, September 5. Storms could bring damaging winds, large hail, frequent lightning, and locally heavy rain as they move into the area this evening, keep an eye on the sky and make sure you can get indoors quickly if storms develop. The National Weather Service in Wilmington, NC is warning of another day of dangerous heat across Georgetown County today, Saturday, September 5, with a Heat Advisory in effect from 11 AM to 8 PM and heat index values of 105–110 degrees possible. An approaching cold front could bring a Level 2 of 5 risk for severe thunderstorms later today, with damaging winds, large hail, and localized flooding possible. Stay weather aware!

One more day of dangerous heat across southeast NC & northeast SC ahead of an approaching cold front which will bring a level 2 of 5 risk for some severe storms with damaging winds and/or large hail late in the day.
