The Allen-Clay Joint Fire District joins the Harris-Elmore Fire Department in mourning the loss of retired Firefighter/Medic Jeff Herman Sr.

Jeff faithfully served the Allen-Clay Joint Fire District from 2003 until his retirement in 2025. During those 22 years, he dedicated himself to serving our community with professionalism, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to helping others. He made a lasting impact on our department and on everyone who had the privilege of serving alongside him.

We extend our deepest condolences to Jeff’s family, friends, and our brothers and sisters at Harris-Elmore Fire Department, Gibsonburg Fire Department, North Central EMS, and Woodville Fire Department.

Thank you for your years of dedicated service, Jeff. Your watch is over. Rest easy, brother—we’ll take it from here.

Happy Independence Day!

Today, we celebrate 250 years of American independence—a milestone that reminds us of the courage, sacrifice, and enduring spirit that have shaped our nation.

From all of us at the Allen-Clay Joint Fire District, we wish you and your family a safe and memorable Fourth of July. Whether you're attending a parade, gathering with family and friends, or watching fireworks, we hope your day is filled with safety, gratitude, and celebration.

As you enjoy the festivities, please remember:
Leave fireworks to responsible adults.
Keep a bucket of water or a hose nearby if using consumer fireworks.
If an emergency occurs, don't hesitate to call 911.

Thank you to all who have served and continue to serve our country and our community.

Happy Independence Day—and happy 250th birthday, America!

Sparklers may look harmless, but they burn hotter than most people realize.

• Keep them away from young children.
• Use them outdoors only.
• Place used sparklers in a bucket of water before throwing them away.

A fun celebration shouldn't end with a trip to the emergency room.
